Washington Irish Arts Festival Committee announces

SIX local theatres performing Irish works!

 

The Keegan Theatre is proud to present its production of John Millington Synge's masterwork, The Playboy of the Western World, as part of the 2005 Washington Irish Arts Festival.

 

The annual Washington Irish Arts Festival supports Irish and Irish-American themed events in the weeks leading up to Saint Patrick's Day. Theater, films, music, poetry, book readings, seminars on Irish topics and more are included in the annual festival schedule.

2005 Washington Irish Arts Festival

SCENA's third production of the 2004-2005 season is the Washington Premiere of popular Irish playwright Martin McDonough's The Lonesome West. Directed by Robert McNamara, it features Keegan's Producing Artistic Director and Director of Keegan's The Playboy of the Western World, Mark Rhea, and Keegan Artistic Associate, Eric Lucas, as two brothers living alone in their father's house after his recent death. The Lonesome West is presented in association with the Embassy of Ireland and the Irish Arts Festival 2005.

Fountainhead Theatre's 
production of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband is directed by the award-winning director, Leslie A. Kobylinski (who will also direct Keegan's spring mainstage production, Side Man) and is jammed-packed with talented high-power actors, many of whom have graced the Keegan stage including Richard Mancini, Jim Jorgensen, Charlotte Akin, Nanna Invarsson, Danny ladmirault, and Larry Danielle.
