AllArtsReview4U review
Critics' Choice

There are many reasons to see Keegan Theatre's production of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" but there is one major reason not to miss it...and that is Brian Hemmingsen in the role of Willy Loman. His performance is so tremendous that it refutes what one noted scholar said that "Death of a Salesman" is not really a true classical tragedy since Willy is not a king or a noble person. The tragedy here is that Willy will never be loved by anyone but his long suffering wife, Linda, played poignantly sacrificially by Charlotte Akin.  Addition pathos is that his two sons will also never respect their father. But there is no mistake that Hemmingsen acts like the great tragic figures in dramatic history. Hemmingsen is as powerful and convincing as any of the previous "big" stars that portrayed this tragic figure. His performance is highly recommended. (To 2/18) (Reviewed by Celia Sharpe)
