Keegan Theatre Presents the Tony Award Winning Comedy

Noises Off

Washington,DC, June 30, 2010-  The Keegan Theatre presents Noises Off at the Church Street Theater from July 24 through August 22, 2010.  Called the “funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off  dishes up a cast of second-rate actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On.  Doors slamming, on- and offstage intrigue, and an errant plate of sardines (or two) all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play. Noises Off uses the concept of “play within a play,” in which the first act of a bawdy comedic romp called ‘Nothing On’ is performed three separate times in different phases of a tour.

Noises Off is directed by Keegan’s Producing Artistic Director Mark A. Rhea.  Says Rhea, Keegan’s 2009- 2010 season has had its share of heavy dramatic hitters. From Of Mice and Men to Gdansk to Lughnasa we’ve given our audiences a lot to think about.  We thought it was time to dish up some laughter, especially during these hot DC summer months.  And, if you’re going to do a comedy, why not tackle one of the greatest – if not the greatest – modern comedies ever written?”

Noises Off features Charlotte Akin, Michael Innocenti, Elizabeth Jernigan, Jim Jorgensen, Robert Leembruggen, Brianna Letourneau, Susan Marie Rhea, Colin Smith and Jon Townson.

Noises Off will run Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM and Sunday matinees at 3 PM at the Church Street Theater. Press opening is Monday, July 26, at 8:00pm. The Keegan Theatre is in its 12th year as a D.C.-based professional theatre company and in its first season as a full-time resident at Church Street Theater.
