Dan Martin 2004 LOWT Off-Stage Award Recepient for The Keegan Theatre
Dan Martin’s commitment and dedication goes well beyond lighting design for TKT; he has had to work magic in a myriad of venues from makeshift black box spaces in church basements to quick transformations in unfamiliar theatres overseas.
Not only does he provide the lighting design and technical equipment for every mainstage Keegan production locally and abroad, he does the same for Keegan’s many community outreach programs, including spending untold hours patiently training volunteers and helpers.
For the last five years, Dan has also been a stalwart member of Keegan’s annual Ireland tour group. The company’s most recent tour, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, traveled to nine venues in Ireland –seven in the Republic and two in Northern Ireland– with Dan Martin designing the lighting and overseeing every technical aspect at each unique theatre space along the way.
Dan is a total team player –attentive, supportive, sensitive, dependable and always onboard with every Keegan project, supervising a wide spectrum of technical details. Whether organizing a party to “blow the grid”, or just rolling up his sleeves to work hard at every load in and at every strike, Dan Martin is there for us at every twist and turn, at every bend along the adventurous road on which The Keegan Theatre travels.
