new island project
Artistic Directors: Kerry Waters Lucas and Eric Lucas

The Keegan Theatre is thrilled to announce the launch of its KEEGAN THEATRE new island project, which will produce under the leadership of its artistic directors Kerry Waters Lucas and Eric Lucas, who are both Keegan company members. Keegan’s New Island, which will be dedicated to producing Irish works in minimal settings, will perform all shows in its inaugural season at Arlington’s Theatre on the Run.

new island’s mission: To create a theatre landscape where a predominately gray palate provides an open setting where actor and word are the strongest colors to tell the story. This gray world, in which characterization can emerge, provides an experience, reminding us of what one of the greatest gifts, Irish plays can offer –an immediacy of story which is raw, bold, and engaging.

Faith Healer
by Brian Friel
directed by Mark A. Rhea
The dark memory tale of Francis Hardy, a faith healer and channeler, is revealed through his own confession, as well as from disclosures made by his wife Grace (Kerry Waters Lucas) and their friend Teddy (Mick Tinder). This brutal and moving play takes you to the edge of beauty and loss, and on a search for meaning through the splendor of Irish writing at it’s most poignant and lyrical.
