            Keegan actors, among Washington’s finest, have played virtually every major theatre in the area including Arena Stage, Studio Theatre, Signature Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre, Kennedy Center, and Ford’s Theatre. Cast members have included television and feature-film actors as well as Helen Hayes recipients.

 

Mainstage Awards  

            The Keegan Theatre has received six Helen Hayes nominations. Keegan’s production of Translations, by Brian Friel, one of Ireland’s leading playwrights, garnered a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Director in 1998. Nominees for the 2001 Helen Hayes Awards included David Jourdan for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Keegan’s Twelve Angry Men, Jenifer Deal for Outstanding Supporting Actress in Keegan’s Dancing at Lughnasa, and Little John Nee for Outstanding Lead Actor (Nonresident Production) in Keegan’s The Derry Boat. Carlos Bustamante received a 2003 nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Keegan’s Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

            The Keegan Theatre received the Theatre Lobby’s 1999-2000 prestigious Mary Goldwater Award for excellence in theatre and was specifically recognized “for the high quality of their productions."
