In 2007, The Keegan Theatre announced the launch of its new island project, which produces under the leadership of artistic directors and Keegan company members Kerry Waters Lucas and Eric Lucas. Keegan’s new island project is dedicated to producing Irish works in minimal settings, and for 2009-2010, will perform Saturday matinees and Sunday-Wednesday nights at Church Street Theater.
new island project mission statement: To create a theatre landscape with a predominately gray palate, providing an open setting where actor and word are the strongest colors telling the story. This gray world, in which characterization can emerge, provides an experience that reminds us of one of the greatest gifts that Irish plays offer – an immediacy of story that is raw, bold, and engaging.
